The Hunted House

The party made their way up to the old house, hoping to find the boy Waylen and get the sword they had been sent here to find. Creepy and run down, the house would have been worse at night. Luckily our heroes had the good sense to go during the day.

Explorations showed that someone had set Magic Mouth spells around the house to try and scare off the nervous. Our hearty adventurers however were not scared away. Well, not too scared.

They found their way into the basement, and then a secret door led the way into some other areas of the house. They tangled with a smuggler, who they set free, but not before he told them that this was a secret base for smugglers and that the boy they were looking for had been captured by them some days ago.

The adventurers found tunnels that led to them finding more of the smugglers, one of which appears to be Varisian. A plan is put together to lure them up to the interior of the house and do battle with them there.

The Road to Saltmarsh

The group gathered needed supplies and headed out along the coast road towards Saltmarsh. A four day journey on foot, they hoped to connect with a trade caravan and offer their services in it’s defense. They managed to find a caravan, and they did get them to agree to travel along, but they were offered no compensation, even though Viorel told many tales of the band’s exploits to the caravan team.

The group was put to the test when a giant skunk attacked the caravan one night. Amatae managed to use her animal handling skills to sooth the beast, but lost control of thew animal and it attacked Viorel for some reason. The battle was fierce, but the group was able to defeat the creature.

Eventually the group arrives at Saltmarsh. The caravan continues onward, and the group goes to see if they can get the sword they were sent to find. The blacksmith remembers the sword, it hung in the shop from the time he was a boy. His father, the blacksmith when Angus left the sword there, told many tales of the brave adventurer the sword belonged to. The current blacksmith sold the sword a month or so back to Waylen, the thatcher’s son.

At the thatcher’s home the group mentions the sword, and the thatcher ushers them outside. It seems that talk of the sword and their missing son gives the thatcher’s wife great distress. He assures the group that if they can find his son and bring him back, they could certainly have the sword. Waylen wanted to be an adventurer, and so he headed up to the haunted house…

A Job Offer
It's really a simple job...

Mr. Johnson had passed word to the group through Helga that he might have a job for them. While they were gathered at The Prospect that evening he took some time to sit down with them and give them a general outline of the job.

It seems an old retired adventurer, Angus Bellamy, was approached about putting together an exhibit for a museum. The exhibit was to show case the adventuring history of Mistabar. They wanted to put Angus’ old adventuring kit on display. He had everything, save for his old sword. He knows where he left it, the town of Saltmarsh. He was hoping to have someone go down there and see if they could retrieve it.

The group agreed to take the job and Mr. Johnson left them to their evening so that he could work out the particulars. They would get the details the next day and head out.

To celebrate Walril ordered a round of drinks, to be put on Viorel’s tab. By the end of the evening Walril was pretty plastered and trying to get Amatae to take him home. She tried to get her friends to help, but they had already slipped away, leaving her to carry the drunken halfling back to his apartment and unceremoniously deposit him inside before retiring to her own apartment.
